-Veteran of two successful Superintendent appointments.
-Approved programs (APEX, Fairlead) that led to all time high graduation rate of 94.26%.
-Presenter at state and national school board conferences.
-Advocated for implementation and funding for a comprehensive STEM program in the county.
-Served on numerous state-wide committees including Early Childhood Education Work Group; Quality Teacher Work Group; and Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning Task Force, among others.
-Testified before the House Congressional Committee on Education and Labor on a local perspective regarding Common Core Standards and STEM education at the request of the National School Boards Association.
-Advocated for increased transparency of our school system resulting in implementation of Board Docs, allowing anyone to review materials for school board meetings online; Home Access Center, allowing parents and students online access to review grades, assignments and attendance; and an updated school system website (
www.smcps.org).
